Civil Superintendent

Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee the management of civil construction activities and task assignments for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.

Collaborate with project management and other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.

Budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment.

Ensure construction documents are reviewed for completeness, constructability, and field execution requirements.

Create, review, and update project schedules and three-week look ahead scheduling.

Lead the creation, review, and update of project schedules and three-week look ahead scheduling.

Oversee civil construction activities including site preparation, grading, excavation, drainage, access roads, foundations, and underground utility installation.

Develop and implement site utilization plans and establish crew sizes to support project requirements.

Drive effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.

Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed.

Implement Herzog’s Safety Without Compromise.

Ensure civil work is completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule expectations.

Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 10 years of construction management or related experience.

Experience managing civil construction activities for utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil projects preferred.

Experience managing multiple construction activities and crews simultaneously.

Strong understanding of civil construction methods, site development, grading, and underground utility installation.

Knowledge of construction safety, quality, scheduling, and planning processes.

Microsoft Office skills.

Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.

Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Ability to travel up to 100%.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.

Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.

Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
