We are seeking a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary professionals. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the behavior of structural systems and their components for forensic engineering related to residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and inland structures.
Responsibilities
- Perform field work to document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems from natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) or human-induced origins (design and construction errors/omissions), including large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.
- Utilize building codes, technical knowledge of structural behavior, and construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations and conduct cause and origin analyses.
- Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
- Develop proficiency with building envelope and roofing systems.
- Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors, and author detailed technical reports.
- Manage multiple project assignments, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
- Retain and develop client relationships.
- Travel as needed on short notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Florida Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES examination; multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) a plus (NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, LA, TX preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in design or a related background promoting understanding of structural behavior and/or building envelope science.
- Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.).
- Field experience and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in litigation support, including expert testimony at depositions, trials, mediation, or arbitration, is a plus.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and have a good driving record.
Pay
$100,000 – $170,000
