We are seeking a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary licensed engineers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the behavior of structural systems and their components for forensic engineering related to residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and inland structures.

About the role

This position involves performing failure cause and origin analysis on building systems, authoring technical reports, and supporting construction litigation. Experience in these areas is desired but not required if the candidate has a strong design background. Building system types include steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing, and building envelopes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field work to document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems from natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement) or human-induced origins (design/construction errors).
  • Respond to large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.
  • Utilize building codes and technical knowledge of structural behavior to establish repair scope recommendations and cause/origin analyses.
  • Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
  • Communicate with clients, code officials, and contractors; provide detailed reports.
  • Manage multiple project assignments, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
  • Retain and develop client relationships.
  • Travel as needed, sometimes on short notice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Louisiana Professional Engineer license (NCEES examination); multiple state registrations or ability to obtain them is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in design or a related field that promotes understanding of structural behavior.
  • Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Field experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Litigation support experience, including expert testimony at depositions, trials, mediations, or arbitrations, is desirable.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer and have a good driving record.
