Civil / Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary licensed engineers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the behavior of structural systems and their components for forensic engineering related to residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and inland structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform fieldwork to document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems caused by natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) or human-induced origins (design and construction errors/omissions). Natural events may include large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.
• Utilize building codes, technical knowledge of structural behavior, and construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations and conduct cause and origin analyses.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors, and provide detailed reports.
• Manage multiple project assignments, ensuring timely and within-budget execution.
• Retain and develop client relationships.
• Travel as needed, sometimes on short notice.
• Provide litigation support, including expert testimony at depositions, trials, mediation, and arbitration proceedings (desirable).

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in design or related fields that promote an understanding of structural behavior.
• Texas Licensed Professional Engineer (NCEES examination); multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) a plus.
• Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.).
• Strong grasp of structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
• Field experience and familiarity with multiple types of construction (preferred).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in the United States and a good driving record.
