Civil Structural Designer

Responsibilities

• Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specifications and codes, including safety and OSHA regulations.
• Develop civil/structural 3D models and 2D extractions under minimal supervision utilizing AutoCAD and CADWorx.
• Apply knowledge of basic civil and structural material specifications to ensure all information required for material purchase, fabrication, and construction is reflected on finished drawings.
• Perform field-related work collecting design information and verifying designs for tie-ins, function, and clearances to existing facilities.
• Provide field support activities for engineering support during construction, where assigned.
• Check and back-check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
• Interact with designers and engineers within the civil/structural group and other disciplines in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces.
• Work with clients to resolve problems.
• Adhere to company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook, H+M Safety Manual, and OSHA Safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the design lead or department manager.
• Identify and recommend work process improvements.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx experience in heavy industrial projects.
• Experience utilizing 3D laser scans (Leica Jetstream) as a modeling and design tool.
• Able to perform job walks to define civil/structural scope of work for projects and complete those projects with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
• Basic knowledge of the technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with drafting, design, and 3D modeling.
• Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension.
• Experience with AISC steel detailing, ACI, and Process Industry Practices (PIP).
• Knowledgeable and experienced using Bluebeam to check and redline drawings.
