About the role

We’re currently looking for a Civil / Stormwater Engineer to join our growing team in our Pittsburgh office. If you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, developing practical stormwater solutions, and collaborating with a team that values technical excellence and real-world problem-solving, you’ll fit right in.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and review of stormwater management systems for municipal, commercial, and land development projects.
  • Prepare and oversee site grading, drainage, and stormwater management designs that balance regulatory compliance with practical constructability.
  • Manage stormwater permitting efforts and coordinate with local, state, and regulatory agencies throughout the approval process.
  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater infrastructure design and watershed management solutions.
  • Prepare construction drawings, technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation for stormwater and site development projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance throughout project development and execution.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to solve complex stormwater and drainage challenges while delivering practical, cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in stormwater engineering, site grading, and drainage design.
  • Strong experience with stormwater management design and permitting processes.
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.E.) in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience preparing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and developing stormwater management solutions for a variety of project types.
  • Ability to understand the technical and regulatory aspects of stormwater permitting, MS4 programs, and land development requirements.

Why KLH?

  • We’ll give you the space to do what you do best—be an engineer. You won’t be expected to act as a salesperson, and we’re not hung up on accounting metrics or KPIs.
  • We’re big enough to tackle complex, high-impact projects in-house, but small enough that your ideas won’t get lost in the shuffle.
  • You’ll work alongside a smart, collaborative, and genuinely supportive team.
  • We offer a flexible work schedule.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to see projects from concept to construction and start-up, and won’t be pigeonholed into doing the same task day after day.
  • We believe in investing in our people through mentorship, continued learning, and opportunities for growth.
