Civil Quality Inspector

About the Role

Wood is seeking an experienced Civil Quality Inspector to join our Process & Chemicals business in Lake Charles, LA. This hybrid role will support our Black Bayou project by inspecting products/materials and associated documentation to confirm compliance with Wood, client, or industry specifications/codes and relevant purchase order requirements. Inspections may occur at supplier sites, Wood and client worksites, and/or warehouse receipt locations. This role is typically program or project-based.

Responsibilities

• Validate inspection requirements and carry out inspection activities at worksites including suppliers, warehouses, etc.
• Witness/review testing activities in compliance with Inspection and Test Plan requirements.
• Verify appropriate approvals are in place prior to commencement of specific works (e.g., weld procedures, welder certification).
• Review and endorse quality records raised as an output from manufacturing and installation processes.
• Generate inspection and progress reports as required.
• Perform final inspection release and issue inspection release notes.
• Report any inspection deficiencies and queries to the project quality team.
• Verify inspection test equipment is fit for purpose and calibrated prior to use.
• Verify equipment storage and preservation in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
• Provide support to as-building processes and handover for completions.
• Assist in auditing of suppliers as required.

Requirements

• Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Degree/diploma or local equivalent in quality or technical discipline.
• Inspection certificate in a relevant discipline (e.g., welding/electrical/mechanical) from a recognized industry or national body.
• Radiographic interpretation certificate (piping welding inspectors only).
• Quality auditor qualification by a recognized industry body.
• Awareness of ISO 9001 requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
