Job Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for completing the final in-depth inspection of completed trailers and for locating defects overlooked in the manufacturing process and correcting these prior to shipping the product.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively observe and promote BWise safety standards
- Visually review quality of powder coat finish on trailers by observing light spots, foreign material on painted surface, or other defects/blemishes
- If a defect/blemish is located, properly clean surface and touch-up using the matching aerosol paint can
- Check welds on the trailer frames, hangers and pivots
- Verify fasteners have been installed and tightened using a torque wrench (when necessary)
- Confirm that trailer is built to the specifications of Sales Order #, by matching Sales Order paperwork to appearance trailer
- Test basic functions of trailer such as hydraulics, lighting, etc.
- Install warning labels, reflective tape, and logos decals in designated areas (these must be straight)
- Other duties, as assigned by supervisor
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping
- Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather
- Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace
PPE Requirements
- Steel-toed shoes or composite shoes
- Safety glasses
- Earplugs
- Gloves when handling any material
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels
- Manufacturing related experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of ERP software (Global Shop Solutions, preferred)
