Calnin & Goss · Appleton, WI · Yesterday
On-siteProject Management$94k–$121k/yrFull-time

Calnin & Goss is a relationship-focused civil construction company built on honesty, fairness, hard work, and a genuine love of construction. We partner closely with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and crews to deliver high-quality earthwork, utilities, and demolition projects throughout our local markets. We value team members who are humble, hungry, and reliable — people who take pride in doing things the right way, communicate openly, and show grit when solving complex field challenges.

About the role

As a Civil Project Manager, you’ll lead projects from pre-construction through final delivery, serving as the central point of coordination for people, cost, schedule, quality, and safety. This is a hands-on role where you’ll prepare and evaluate estimates, submit bids, manage subcontractors, mentor project teams, and maintain strong client relationships, all while upholding Calnin & Goss safety standards and quality expectations. You’ll be trusted to lead with integrity, make sound decisions, and build lasting partnerships that support successful projects and a strong local community.

What You Bring

  • 5–7 years of experience in civil construction estimating, project management, or a related field, with hands-on involvement in earthwork, utilities, or similar civil scopes.
  • A strong commitment to safety, ethics, and compliance, with experience leading site safety efforts and ensuring subcontractor adherence to standards.
  • Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end, from estimating and bidding through execution and close-out, balancing scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Solid understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and codes, and the ability to translate them into executable work plans.
  • Experience with budget management, change orders, and cost control, including subcontractor coordination and proposal evaluation.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills, including mentoring, coaching, and fostering a collaborative, high-trust team environment.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with construction estimating and project management tools, including Bluebeam and Microsoft 365.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to Have

  • Experience using B2W or similar civil modeling/estimating tools.
  • Strong familiarity with supply chain coordination and procurement planning tied to project milestones.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders or collaborating within a larger parent organization (such as Boldt).
  • Comfort balancing field presence with office-based planning and reporting responsibilities.

Compensation

Target Hiring Range: $94,000 - $121,000 annually. Boldt recognizes that experience, expertise, and specialized skills create value. The target hiring range for this position is $94,000 - $121,000 annually; however, compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, certifications, geographic market conditions, internal equity, and business considerations.
