Civil Field Engineer Co-op

Based in Plymouth, Minnesota. Position is a Civil Field Engineer Co‑op for the summer and fall of 2027. Field projects require extensive time out of the office and may involve out‑of‑town travel, long days, and weekend work as dictated by construction site schedules.

Responsibilities

• Construction oversight and documentation under direction of senior engineering staff.
• Review plans and specifications, take photographs, prepare daily construction reports.
• Compile testing and survey data, tabulate quantities, communicate with contractors, and participate in construction meetings.
• Operate GPS survey equipment; sample soil, groundwater, surface water, and solid waste.
• Compile field data and assist with preparation of technical reports.
• Correspond with clients, contractors, laboratories, etc.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with the USCS soil classification system.
• Detail‑oriented with strong documentation and technical writing skills.
• Good time management, ability to track hours and work independently.
• Clean driving record and ability to drive a company vehicle as needed.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of working long days and non‑traditional work weeks in construction/outdoor environments.
• Previous experience with CAD software and reading/interpreting construction plans and specifications is a plus.

Pay

The hourly rate is expected to be between $19.00 and $27.00, based on qualifications and experience.
