Civil Engineer Co-Op

Responsibilities

• Assists in gathering field data and capital cost estimating when needed
• With supervision, uses design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
• Ensures quality and technical accuracy of assigned deliverables
• Follows the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards
• With supervision, performs necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables
• Collaborates with civil associates on a project
• Maintains individual schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects
• Designs earthwork, pavement, underground utilities, storm water management, erosion control methodologies
• Selects appropriate construction materials
• Supports construction efforts, startup, and commissioning
• Interacts with other design disciplines and project management as needed
• Communicates with local authorities for permitting coordination
• Collaborates with outside consultants and contractors
• Participates in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables
• Identifies and communicates scope changes for discipline
• Communicates individual forecasted staffing requirements for projects

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Completed at least 4 semesters of related engineering courses
• Prior co-op experience preferred
• Developing written and oral communication skills
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks
• Understanding of civil engineering concepts and principles
• Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and industry standards
• Civil design experience, including storm water analysis, underground utility, and three-dimensional modeling
