Civil Engineering Technician

About the role

This position focuses on office drafting with occasional field work. You will assist with design and construction phase activities on various projects, fostering our mission that All People Should Live in Safe, Sustainable and Beautiful Communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and construction phase activities on various projects
• Perform basic design computations and preliminary layout and design
• Assist with project plans and specifications, preparing cost and quantity take-off estimates
• Perform construction observation activities, including construction staking, documentation, measuring and testing, general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, residents, and City staff

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution or previous experience with infrastructure design and/or construction observation
• Knowledge and skills in CAD and design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation)
• Working knowledge and experience with DOT standard specifications, standard plans, and standard plates preferred
• Working knowledge of design and construction techniques and procedures
• Valid driver’s license and your own transportation (business-related travel reimbursed)
• Capable of working in extended outdoor conditions and navigating rugged terrain for construction observation duties
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment without a need for current or future visa sponsorship

Bolton & Menk is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. The company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
