What You Will Do | Overview and Key Responsibilities: This hands-on role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, assembly, and test. Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will provide day-to-day technical support that keeps production moving in close cooperation with Manufacturing Engineers, Operations, Quality, and other PBS Aerospace Divisions. As a member of the technical team, you will help advance PBS Aerospace’s position in the small turbine engine marketplace by executing assembly work, building and maintaining tooling, collecting production data, and helping Manufacturing Engineers implement process improvements that increase production throughput. Turbojet Assembly Production Support:Support Manufacturing Engineers in executing detailed project scopes across multiple products to meet aggressive timelines and production volumeBuild hardware to detailed assembly work instructions and provide hands-on feedback to help engineers refine, redline, and continuously improve those instructionsSupport tracking key production metrics such as takt time, cycle time, yield, etc.Assist Manufacturing Engineers in applying process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increase production rates; and remove variability from complex processesWork in close collaboration with fellow Technicians and members of the Engineering team to improve training, understanding, and reduce non-conformities Hands-On Manufacturing Experience:Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain tooling and fixtures per engineering direction to improve accuracy and/or repeatabilityWork directly on the production floor, supporting engine assembly, fluid systems flow testing, full engine acceptance testing, and equipment operation and maintenance needsHigh Cross-Functional Exposure:Participate in root cause analyses, documenting observations and providing shop-floor input to teams and stakeholders across Design, Production, Quality, etc.Provide hands-on feedback to Manufacturing and Design Engineers on development testing scopes or buildsSupport Quality counterparts by executing inspections and following control plans and compliance requirements What You Need to Succeed | Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Technical/vocational certificate, apprenticeship, or Associate’s degree in a mechanical, manufacturing, or related technical field is a plus, but not required.5+ years of hands-on experience assembling, building, or repairing mechanical hardware; trade school, apprenticeship, or military maintenance experience countsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed assembly work instructions; comfort viewing 3D CAD models (e.g. Creo) is a plusWorking knowledge of GD&T symbols and dimensional callouts in accordance with ASME standardsProficiency with hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, height gauges); strong interest in gas turbine engine technology and mechanical systemsStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot assembly issues and recognize typical hardware failure modesSelf-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; bias for action to remove roadblocks and drive to solutionsHigh-energy and passionate team player who is excited about solving complex, high-impact problems, and embraces a culture of trust, free-thought, and collaborationMust be a U.S. Citizen.
