About the role

The Civil Engineering Designer position at KPFF Seattle’s Civil Team provides the opportunity to work on a variety of projects from feasibility evaluations to design, permitting, and construction. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the design and development of civil infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, design, permitting, and refinement of land development and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
  • Gain hands-on experience while learning directly from licensed professional engineers.
  • Apply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build expertise in navigating federal, state, and local regulations, while aligning with KPFF’s and our clients’ standards and practices.
  • Join client meetings and site visits to gain exposure to project development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Participate in KPFF’s Forefront program, our commitment to mentorship, lifelong learning, and career development.

Requirements

  • An ABET accredited bachelor's degree in civil (preferred) or environmental engineering
  • 0-3 years’ experience working under a licensed professional engineer
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or scheduled date for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Passionate about providing exceptional client service

Qualifications

  • Coursework and/or familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
  • Coursework and/or familiarity with stormwater hydrology modeling.
