Why This Role Matters

As our Civil Engineer V, you'll serve as one of GBA's trusted technical authorities for potable water infrastructure. You'll provide strategic technical leadership on our most complex water projects, establish engineering best practices, mentor engineers across the organization, and help shape the future of our Water Environment practice.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership for complex potable water distribution, transmission, storage, pump station, and water treatment projects.
  • Serve as the technical authority for design quality, engineering standards, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control across multiple projects.
  • Lead design oversight for new and rehabilitation water distribution systems, transmission mains, storage tanks, booster pump stations, and water treatment facilities.
  • Review and approve complex engineering calculations, hydraulic models, technical studies, plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions for the firm's most technically challenging water infrastructure projects.
  • Establish engineering best practices, technical standards, and design approaches that strengthen project delivery.
  • Partner with Project Leaders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence across the organization.
  • Support business development through proposal preparation, scope development, fee estimates, and strategic client pursuits.
  • Mentor engineers and technical professionals while strengthening technical expertise across the Water Environment practice.
  • Represent GBA as a trusted technical advisor with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Technical Skills

  • Preferred specialized technical training.
  • Significant experience designing potable water distribution systems, transmission mains, storage facilities, booster pump stations, and water treatment infrastructure.
  • High degree of proficiency with hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWater, InfoWorks, WaterGEMS, HEC-RAS, or similar applications.
  • Expert knowledge of EPA, state, and local drinking water regulations.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Advanced collaboration and leadership skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills with clients, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Strong organizational and workflow management skills for complex engineering programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

  • Shape customer engagement strategies for major programs and initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop innovative, customer-focused water infrastructure solutions.
  • Represent the customer's perspective in planning and organizational decisions.
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with high-value clients and strategic partners.

Travel
