About the role
This position involves designing and reviewing structural systems for Civil Works and Military projects, providing leadership for design teams, conducting site investigations, coordinating multi-discipline teams, managing budgets and schedules, and performing blast and progressive collapse analyses.
Responsibilities
- Design and technical review of structural systems for Civil Works and Military projects
- Leadership and point of contact for design teams on assigned projects or installations
- Blast analysis in accordance with UFC 4-010-01 DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings
- Progressive collapse analysis in accordance with UFC 4-023-03 Design of Buildings to Resist Progressive Collapse
- Conduct site investigations for in-house design projects and A-E design projects
- Evaluate existing structures for compliance with inspection schedules
- Coordinate planning and design work among multi-discipline teams for various project designs
- Manage budgets and schedules for engineering services; produce design documents and ensure they meet customer objectives
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) Registration is required
- Percentage of time to be spent TDY is 25%, including OCONUS travel
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with coursework in engineering sciences and techniques
- Experience: At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, including applying engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods for structural systems design and technical review
