Civil Engineer (PE)
About the role
AECOM is seeking an experienced mid-level civil/environmental engineer to work in the Environmental Business line with an engineering design group on projects involving Integrated Facility Closure.
This position involves working on projects that will encompass initial environmental site assessments of industrial facilities all the way thru decommissioning and demolition. Projects will also include site remediation and post-remediation site development, solid waste management, stormwater design/management, and oversight of construction services, for a variety of industrial and power clients across the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Develop site/civil plans and drawings, including creating Civil 3D surfaces & grading; processing and evaluating raw survey data; creating alignments, profiles, sections, and pipe networks.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D for advanced engineering tasks.
- Use Microsoft Office software applications for various tasks.
- Conduct hazardous materials surveys and utility planning.
- Perform subsurface investigations and adhere to standard engineering practices, construction, and operation techniques.
- Manage and oversee construction services for various industrial and power clients.
- Work on stormwater management and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling using HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar programs.
- Handle solid waste management, CCR impoundment closures, including design and/or closure of landfills and other solid and/or liquid waste impoundments.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid driver’s License.
- US Citizenship Required.
Preferred Requirements
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in developing site/civil plans and drawings, including advanced experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Obtain Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio within 6 months.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Show familiarity with federal and local construction permitting requirements.
- Show experience in stormwater management and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar programs.
- Show experience in solid waste management, CCR impoundment closures, including design and/or closure of landfills and other solid and/or liquid waste impoundments.

- Passport to enter the United States.
Skills
Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, with a desire to work in a dynamic and fast pace deadline-driven environment. Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients and coordinate among multi-disciplinary design teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
