Civil Engineer in Training
Join our Seattle office as a Civil Engineer in Training and produce construction documents for civil site projects while working onsite alongside our design team.
About the role
Day-to-day, you will use AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam to draft site plans, prepare engineering calculations, and research jurisdictional requirements under the guidance of a senior engineer. You will help produce plans, specifications, and technical memorandums for site systems and water and wastewater design across a variety of building construction projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Seattle civil group while building your own technical foundation.
In your first year, success looks like producing accurate construction documents, contributing engineering calculations that require minimal revision, and supporting construction administration tasks, including onsite field observation with growing independence.
Responsibilities
- Support licensed project engineers on the design of civil site projects
- Plan layouts for small-scale projects and coordinate deliverables across departments
- Research jurisdictional requirements to inform project design decisions
- Prepare project plans and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
- Perform engineering calculations to support project design
- Draft technical memorandums and reports summarizing findings and recommendations
- Support construction administration, including onsite field observation
Requirements
- ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 1 year of related job experience within the US
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to apply engineering concepts to real-world applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
- Solid understanding of civil engineering fundamentals

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, licensure status, location, proficiency, and other job-related factors. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
