Job Responsibilities

• Lead a client/client team (1-5 staff), small to medium projects, or portions of a large project utilizing their experience and education;
• Solve most design challenges that arise on a project;
• Have a good understanding of energy codes and their impact on project design;
• Work in an independent manner on several client and/or project types with minimal supervision from a more Senior Engineer or Designer;
• Have a good understanding of simple drainage systems;
• Communicate effectively to be seen as highly knowledgeable and/or an expert when discussing design challenges or projects, both internally and externally;
• Apply their knowledge gained through experience and knowledge of recognized civil engineering standards to most project types, with minimal oversight from a more Senior Engineer or Designer;
• Be able to apply their knowledge gained through experience and knowledge of recognized civil engineering standards to most project types, with minimal oversight from a more Senior Engineer or Designer;
• Have a thorough knowledge of software assisting programs, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and be able to apply that knowledge throughout the design process;
• Have a good understanding of energy codes and how they affect design decisions in a project;
• Design and draft domestic water, sewer, and natural gas piping systems, including riser diagrams, for most projects;
• Be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D;
• Train employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and technical questions pertaining to HVAC design, plumbing design, or other national standards;
• Collaborate with Architects and other engineers to develop construction documents based on a client's requirements, including most project management and construction administration functions;
• Perform a high level of quality control of their projects and others, for final review by Engineer of Record;
• Have direct client contact;
• Establish project budgets, with the approval of Civil Team Lead, and work with Team Lead to ensure those projects are financially successful, unless in a strictly technical role for the company;
• Serve as Engineer of Record, with approval from Director or Executive, on simple projects or roll-out clients;
• Write specifications for most project types.

Qualifications

• Management Requirements: 0-3 staff;
• Education Requirements: BSCE from an Abet Accredited Engineering Program;
• Licensure Requirements: Licensed Professional Engineer.
