Civil Engineer II

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform detailed civil engineering design for specific project components, such as foundations for equipment, access roads, site drainage, and secondary containment.
• Conduct advanced engineering calculations and analyses to ensure design integrity and compliance.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and design reports.
• Evaluation of vendor proposals for civil-related materials and services, providing technical recommendations.
• Review geotechnical and hydrological data to inform design decisions.
• Aid in the resolution of technical issues during design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards (e.g., ASCE, IBC), and client requirements.
• Coordinate civil design aspects with other disciplines and external consultants.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles, including soil mechanics, structural analysis, and hydraulics.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Experience with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASCE, IBC, API).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
