About the role
Puget Sound Energy is seeking a Civil Engineer II to join their Engineering Operations team. This position is part of a team contributing to vital projects that power communities and support the growing demand for green energy.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to projects involving grading plans, storm drainage, erosion control, and other civil-related elements.
- Develop professional knowledge and abilities by creating and reviewing cost estimates, and providing economic analysis for project alternatives.
- Plan and develop project budgets with appropriate documentation.
- Identify potential areas of weakness with assigned work and initiate corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design requirements.
- Support emergency response work as needed, including immediate and extended restoration efforts.
- Coordinate the work of engineering assistants, technicians, or others who assist in specific assignments (including contractors/consultants).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical, mechanical, civil, or another relevant engineering field.
- Experience in planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, project cost estimating, and scheduling, typically gained after 3 or more years of practice as a degreed engineer.
- Organizational, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects.
- Familiarity with codes and equipment used in the design and operation of utility systems.
- Experience coordinating external consultants in the execution of a project.
- Possession of EIT certificate and ability to obtain PE license.
- Knowledge of engineering economics and utility accounting practices.

Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals-based incentive bonuses.
Schedule
This position is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.
