About the role
As lead and senior engineer, the incumbent assigns and reviews work on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and assures that production and accuracy requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Management: Assign and review work; ensure production and accuracy requirements are met.
- Office Engineering: Thoroughly review plans and specifications; formulate and consolidate recommendations; present recommended changes to facilitate or improve construction during pre-award technical review; read and interpret plans and specifications to ensure conformance of field construction and dredging with their intent; resolve controversial matters with contractor personnel when unresolved by subordinate workforce; make on-the-spot decisions concerning methods, materials, workmanship and contractor operations consistent with the intent of the plans and specifications.
- Field Engineering: Plan and assign work to field inspection force and survey crews; direct attention to conditions warranting special consideration; tour construction and dredging sites to observe rate of progress, workmanship, use of approved material, accepted construction practices and methods and conformance with intent of plans and specifications; coordinate construction activities and maintain liaison with using service and other agencies regarding work progress, relocations, alterations, etc.; maintain liaison with contractor’s representatives to stay updated on construction schedules and plan inspection services to meet contract requirements.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience which includes 2 out of 3 of the following:
- Reviewing engineering design criteria for construction or maintenance of facilities; or
- Reviewing contracts for construction projects; or
- Negotiating with construction contractors on issues related to contract changes or costs.
- Citizenship of the United States.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must register for the Selective Service prior to appointment.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Resume must be two pages or less, include start and end dates, and PP-Series-GR for all Federal positions; applicants must be prepared to submit college transcripts if requested.
- This position requires the DAWIA Contracting Professional acquisition certification; selectee must meet DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the Career Category/Functional Area and the Career Level Certification assigned.
