About the role

Serves a Civil Engineer performing a variety of civil engineering duties relating to civil works and/or military site design projects in the district.

Responsibilities

• Participates in site inspections to verify existing conditions and establish baseline data for refinement of preferred design alternatives.
• Determines possible effect of proposed features of work on existing utilities, buildings, etc., and the extent of alterations and/or relocations required.
• Performs design and layout of proposed civil site project features to include such items as alignment, grading, drainage, construction work limits, necessary environmental considerations, and other associated features.
• Conducts comprehensive studies and develops design documentation reports for various civil works engineering projects.
• Performs technical and design assignments using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and civil engineering design software packages.
• Develops contract drawings, quantity estimates and technical provisions of the specifications for conformance with good engineering practice.

Requirements

• Basic Requirement for Civil Engineer: Degree in engineering or combination of education and experience.
• Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or Master's degree with 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in Civil Engineering.
• Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and performing design work, collecting data through field activities, assisting with the preparation of reports, plans and other project documentation, and overseeing the inspection of contract construction for adherence to plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• Education: One full year of graduate level education in Civil Engineering or Superior Academic Achievement in a qualifying field.
• Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in civil engineering principles, methods, and techniques, assisting in the preparation of civil engineering design documents, supporting site inspections and field investigations, reviewing technical specifications, engineering drawings or design criteria.
