Civil Engineer – Entry Level (Hybrid)

Barr is seeking a civil engineer to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota, team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Engineering and Design civil engineering group.

Responsibilities

• Design: completing site development designs.
• Reporting and presentation: providing written and oral technical guidance, preparing permit review summaries, and presenting findings to decision-making bodies.
• Technical analysis: performing calculations, conducting data analysis, and compiling technical reports.

You will enjoy working independently and as part of a team, using your expertise and technical skills to add to each project. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and follow-up, are key to success. This role requires the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences and flexibility to occasionally modify schedules to meet project deadlines and client needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF editing software.
• Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
• Ability to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided.
• Up to 10 percent domestic fieldwork travel expectation.
• Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.

Pay

Anticipated range of $70,000–$85,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. This position is classified exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
