Civil Engineer

About the role

The Civil Engineer (PW) (with PE) position supports the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of city infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering functions in support of city infrastructure projects.
• Responsible for designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining city infrastructure.
• Works with public or private utilities and/or technical civil engineering consulting firms.
• Manages projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field.
• Two (2) years recent responsible engineering design experience with a public or private utility and/or a technical civil engineering consulting firm preferred.
• Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Alabama preferred.
• Valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
• Available to be contacted via phone within 30 days of employment/promotion/demotion/transfer.
• Maintains compliance with the City of Dothan's employment physical standard, including drug/alcohol testing.

Qualifications

• Accredited through an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education (CHEA).

Skills

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with project management and coordination.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay

$74,172.80 - $118,084.80 Annually
