About the role

The role of a Civil Designer or EIT is to work independently and as a team member on a wide range of exciting projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. Projects include commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal work across the state of New Mexico and within Arizona and Texas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control.
  • Prepare complete submission packages, supporting calculations, quantity and cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.
  • Aid project manager/project engineer with consultant and project team coordination.
  • Perform planning activities, including project research, assessment of project feasibility.
  • Utilizes CAD in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on projects.
  • Aids in the development of new standards and processes for the civil group.

Qualifications

  • Civil Designer – Minimum of 5 years’ experience with AutoCAD and development plan design.
  • EIT – Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree, Engineer in Training Certification, and CAD experience.
  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with a team.
  • Possesses excellent time-management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with local agency and industry applicable codes.
  • General understanding of project document production.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with a multi-disciplinary team and clients with varied knowledge of the development process.

Skills

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience in land development, utility, and roadway design.
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems and industry standards.
