Civil Design Technician

About the Role

Kimley-Horn is looking for a CAD Technician/Designer to join our Development Services team in Richardson, Texas. This individual will primarily design and produce sets of plans for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential land development projects, while implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software.
• Create and quality-check drawings and plans of substantial complexity; perform multifaceted calculations.
• Work with minimal supervision on day-to-day tasks, applying knowledge of engineering principles to suggest design changes.
• Maintain the drawing database and may supervise or train CAD staff.
• Coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control.
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred).
• 0–2+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products.
• Detail-oriented with a professional attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal and writing skills, and a desire to learn.
