Civil Construction Estimator

About the Role

The client is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects, including DOT (Department of Transportation) initiatives. This role involves analyzing material, labor, and equipment costs, collaborating with construction crews and project managers, and managing multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects.
• Perform material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost analysis.
• Review and interpret civil engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for project bidding.
• Collaborate with construction crews, purchasing agents, and project managers.
• Develop material and cost estimates for large-scale civil construction projects.
• Manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Utilize spreadsheets, estimating software, and project management tools to prepare competitive proposals.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Estimator.
• DOT project experience is required.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Asphalt paving
  • Site grading
  • Earthwork
  • Storm drainage
  • Underground utilities
  • Erosion control
  • Concrete and site improvements
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and specifications.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs.
• Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills.
• Strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, estimating software, and project management tools.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

Pay

Compensation based on experience.
