Job Overview

Southern Contracting is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of heavy civil construction projects. The role involves working closely with Project Managers and Superintendents, ensuring smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret project plans and specifications to ensure accuracy in the construction process.
  • Aid in reviewing and managing project submittals.
  • Generate purchase orders and track material deliveries.
  • Support project scheduling and subcontractor coordination.
  • Prepare and organize daily field reports for review by project leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and client requirements.
  • Provide general support to Project Managers and Superintendents as needed.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required) or Construction Management (preferred alternative).
  • 1+ years of experience in heavy civil construction preferred, but entry-level candidates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to pass State & Federal background checks to access military bases and Federal facilities.
  • Civil Engineer license or active progress toward licensure is a plus.

Schedule

Full-Time Monday - Friday.

Location

This position requires relocation to one of Southern Contracting's offices in:

  • Biloxi, MS
  • Newbern, TN
  • Dunkirk, MD
