Job Summary

Carpenter, Concrete, Civil Helper will assist in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, adhering to necessary building codes.

About the Role

Receives and understands instructions and prints regarding work assignments in shop or field. Interprets part and assembly drawings. Makes sketches showing construction details for fabrication or remodeling work. Plans sequence of operations and job methods. Makes calculations essential in estimating material requirements and for laying out and developing curved, angular, plane, or irregular shapes. Selects materials and tools most suitable for the job. Sets up and operates woodworking tools to cut, finish, and form material for the job. Uses a variety of hand tools to form, fabricate, finish, erect, dismantle, repair, and refinish structures and refinery office equipment. Performs a wide variety of carpentry work such as interior finishing, repair, and construction of office furniture, storage cabinets, doors, partitions, windows, building, tanks, benches, shoring, and scaffolds. Builds forms and installs reinforcing rods and anchor bolts for concrete foundations. Locates and installs prefabricated wood and metal parts. Installs or replaces glass. Dismantles, erects, and repairs various types of roofing. Erects various types of scaffolds including pipe and safety barriers and makes provisions for handling materials needed for the job. Keeps immediate working area clean. Identifies safety hazards and takes necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. Performs all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

  • Plans and executes carpentry tasks, including cutting, finishing, and forming material.
  • Operates woodworking tools and hand tools for various projects.
  • Builds and installs structures, fixtures, and components.
  • Handles safety protocols and identifies potential hazards.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance, turnaround, or construction experience.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to pass the Carpenter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Completion of Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
  • Active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance, turnaround, or construction experience.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to pass the Carpenter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Completion of Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
  • Active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Pay

The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour. Full range for this position, available overtime, is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour.

Physical/Special Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
  • Hearing, speaking, understanding, and communicating effectively.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
  • Work outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Capable of working for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
