:h3: About the role The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a full-time contracted exempt City Manager. :h3: Responsibilities - Plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the City of Kodiak. - Responsible to the City Council for executing City laws and ordinances and implementing the policy decisions made by the City Council. - Provides information on policy, legislative, and financial decisions. - Ensures that public services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner. - Maintains contact with the citizens of Kodiak city to determine problems and provide information. - Facilitates the development and implementation of City goals and objectives. - Provides highly complex administrative support to the City Council. :h3: Requirements - Bachelors degree (with a Masters degree preferred, but not required) in public administration, business administration, or a related field. - A minimum of five to seven years experience in a municipal government administrative or executive capacity, including at least five years of supervisory and personnel management. - Have investment experience. - Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to sufficiently demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. :h3: Qualifications The City of Kodiak is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The City of Kodiak is home to about 6,000 residents, with approximately 7,000 additional residents living in several communities on Kodiak Island. The economy of Kodiak is based on commercial fishing and seafood processing. Tourism, sport hunting and fishing, the aerospace industry, health care, and government employment also serve to strengthen Kodiak's economy.
