About the role

Determines and authors the official record of every action in a court of general jurisdiction through the recording of minutes, maintaining custody of all notices and documents presented in court, receiving and processing of all exhibits, and directing courtroom procedures of hearings and trials involving simple and/or uncontested cases or where judges use expedited orders.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and processes legal forms and documents in court proceedings.
• Maintains custody of all notices and documents presented in court.
• Receives and processes all exhibits.
• Directs courtroom procedures of hearings and trials.
• Takes and transcribes minutes of proceedings, including taking portions verbatim.
• Directs courtroom procedures of hearings and trials involving simple or non-complex cases.

Requirements

• Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Specialized Experience: One (1) year of work experience in a court or legal setting, which included the preparation and/or processing of legal forms and documents in court proceedings.
• Note-Taking Ability: Demonstrated through training and/or experience.
• Typing Skill Requirement: Ability to type at a rate of 40 net words per minute.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• One Year of Work Experience in a Court or Legal Setting.
• Note-Taking Skills: Gained through training and/or experience.
