CIO/VP of IT

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and engaged individual to join our Knife River leadership team as the Chief Information Officer (CIO)/VP of IT. This executive role is based at our headquarters in Bismarck, ND, with hybrid work opportunities available.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a company-wide IT strategy aligned with business objectives
• Lead digital transformation initiatives and modernization efforts
• Oversee enterprise systems, infrastructure, and IT service delivery
• Ensure strong cybersecurity, data protection, and risk management practices
• Partner with business leaders to deliver technology-driven solutions
• Build and lead a high-performing IT team
• Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and technology investments
• Drive data and analytics capabilities to support decision-making
• Plan and support integration of acquired operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including senior-level roles
• Proven success leading enterprise technology strategy and transformation
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity
• Experience supporting multi-site or distributed operations preferred
