About the role

Institutional Structured Products Associate in Santander’s U.S. Corporate Investment Banking. This position will be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with clients at hedge funds, money managers, insurance companies, banks, and other institutional accounts covering MBS, ABS, CLOs, CMBS, esoteric, and private credit. The salesperson will coordinate between trading, banking, and financing to best service the customer with the firm’s offerings. The role requires a working knowledge of the firm’s product offerings and the ability to work across business lines to develop and nurture relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, develop, and enhance relationships with traders and portfolio managers at existing clients and targeted prospects to drive revenue generation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in all client interactions, shaping the client’s perception of the firm and ensuring awareness of all relevant product offerings.
  • Connect originators with lenders, buyers with sellers, clients with bankers, and problems with solutions—whether filling a bond axe or structuring creative private solutions.
  • Acquire a strong grasp of the bank’s product offerings and tailor them to client needs, including trading desk products, ABS banking, and other business lines within Santander US Capital Markets.
  • Work collaboratively with senior partners, the sales force, trading desks, and bankers.
  • Gather and distribute relevant information to appropriate risk takers and business partners, including research, desk color, and banking transactions.
  • Participate in joint calling efforts with bankers to uncover public and private opportunities with clients, and source opportunities for the bank and partners in sales and trading.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in sell-side or buy-side roles in relevant sales, trading, or banking.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 certifications.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring employer sponsorship.

  • Demonstrated success in structured products new issue and/or secondary trading.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set, drive, and lead transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Expert relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team and display leadership capabilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to self-direct and influence complex initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bloomberg; Intex, PowerPoint, and Tableau are helpful but not required.
  • Sales-oriented, energetic, and self-motivated with a strong initiative to achieve sales goals.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory as required.
  • Fearless attitude with the ability to cold call and navigate warm introductions.
  • Knowledge of structured products, including their structure, attributes, uses, terminology, risk, and valuation.
  • Understanding of global markets and the interplay of rates, geopolitics, and data releases.
  • Persistent attitude with the ability to follow long-term goals despite obstacles.
  • Knowledge of sales processes, tools, and techniques, including preparing and presenting formal recommendations.
  • Ability to develop future-oriented sales plans that align with business strategy and emerging opportunities.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $175,000.00 to $225,000.00 USD annually. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and location.
