Chuj Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring interpreters to work remotely from their homes. The company provides services in multiple industries including healthcare, 911, first responders, education, government agencies, and businesses. As a phone interpreter, you will receive industry-leading training and have opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
• Speak clearly in both Chuj and English, using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions
• Concentrate and remain detached from the conversation, especially in sensitive or stressful situations
• Understand and follow industry-specific terminology and procedures
• Provide cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment
• Be available during work hours and follow client instructions

Requirements

• Fluency in Chuj and English
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Cultural competency and ability to handle regional and accent differences
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• At least 18 years old
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write Chuj and English

Qualifications

• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Must be able to operate a variety of devices and software
• Must have a high-speed internet connection
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs
• Must have a quiet workspace

The pay rate is $1.25 - $1.40 per minute.
