About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Chuukese-English Video-Phone Interpreter to work remotely from your home. This position offers professional interpreter training, continuous development, incentives, benefits, and advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Deliver interpretation services via video and type data on a dedicated device.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the interpreting sessions.
• Stay calm during calls involving sensitive topics like end of life conversations.
• Follow client instructions and adhere to protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and adapt to various industries' terminology and procedures.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.

Requirements

• Fluency in Chuukese and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate and remain neutral during sensitive calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• Age 18 or older, legally authorized to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write Chuukese and English.

Qualifications

• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise.
• Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and computer for long periods.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS operating systems.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
• Smartphones (iOS or Android).
• No restricted brands (Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware).
• High-speed internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping value of no more than 300 ms, and jitter value of no more than 30 ms.

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.
• Remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam.
• Use a headset for prolonged periods.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
