Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Technical Perform department procedures and demonstrate sound laboratory techniques.
• Must have read and follow Departmental SOPs.
• Demonstrates proficiency in judging acceptability of quality control results.
• Communicates sample issues within and outside the department to support proper client communication.
• Participates in internal and external proficiency testing.
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing maintenance on equipment in the department.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological or Chemical Science from an accredited institution, a degree in Medical Technology or a MLT Certification.
• No previous experience is required however prior clinical experience is desirable.
• Candidates must be an excellent problem solver, detail oriented, self-motivated, and a good team player.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn and utilize the laboratory information system.

Physical Demands

• On occasion the individual may be called upon to handle biological specimens.
• The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• The employee must be able to work in an environment containing biohazards, toxic chemicals, pungent odors, corrosive acids, noise, sharp objects, and other normal hazards found in the clinical laboratory.

Work Environment

• The employee must be able to work in an environment containing biohazards, toxic chemicals, pungent odors, corrosive acids, noise, sharp objects, and other normal hazards found in the clinical laboratory.
• Laboratory safety measures are in place and protective equipment provided to help minimize possible exposure to these environmental risks.
