About the role
The Gas Chromatography Technician is responsible for performing duties to support GC analytical testing for Intertek and its clients. The role involves maintaining associated records to provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective service.
Responsibilities
- Perform numerous chemical tests, focusing on Gas Chromatography, following ASTM protocol.
- Conduct equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Clean glassware and test equipment.
- Assist with preparing reagents as needed.
- Record data on appropriate data sheets and report data to the LIMS system.
- Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
- Provide direct analytical support using ASTM, UOP, IP, ISO EN, and other published methods.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work overtime as business needs dictate.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years of direct laboratory analysis experience or a bachelor's degree in a field of science.
- Proficiency in using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes.
- Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures.
- Proficiency in utilizing non-complex and complex instrumentation.
- Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 44 pounds and occasionally up to 49 pounds.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to various chemicals within OSHA standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- GC experience.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
- Prior experience with Agilent ChemStation operating software.
