About the role
This position involves leading music or other arts programs within the Corps, planning and attending recitals, and assisting with summer camps.
Responsibilities
- Lead music or other arts programs as assigned within the Corps.
- Plan and implement weekly music lessons using appropriate curriculum.
- Prepare music programs for Corps concerts at the end of each school year.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and develop musical abilities.
- Facilitate the involvement of participants in positive activities and community events.
- Assist in planning summer camps and music day camps.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults.
- Performance experience is preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.
Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations.
- A strong commitment to support and promote The Salvation Army’s mission.
