About the role
This position involves leading music or other arts programs within the Corps, planning and implementing curriculum, and assisting with summer camps.
Responsibilities
- Lead music or other arts programs as assigned within the Corps.
- Plan and implement weekly lesson plans for music classes.
- Attend and prepare for Bravo recitals and the Bravo concert at the end of each school year.
- Encourage participants to achieve goals and enhance their self-esteem and school/program pride.
- Ensure music performances and activities contribute positively to the community.
- Plan and assist with summer camps, including divisional music camp and summer music day camps.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children/adults, with performance experience preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: None required.

- Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations/priorities.
- A strong commitment to supporting and promoting The Salvation Army's mission.
Qualifications
- Must be able to drive a vehicle for Salvation Army business.
- Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.
Physical Requirements
The employee is regularly required to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program and frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC is also required.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.
Working Conditions
The work environment includes a program environment with moderate to high noise levels. Employees must recognize that The Salvation Army is a church and agree not to undermine its religious mission.
