About the role
As a Mental Health Worker, you'll play a crucial role in our inpatient setting by providing basic physiological and psychosocial care, along with essential safety measures and environmental care, to mentally ill patients. You'll work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and may be required to provide one-on-one patient supervision as needed. Flexibility is key, as you may also be asked to float to other departments.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic physiological and psychosocial care to mentally ill patients.
- Implement safety measures and environmental care.
- Provide one-on-one patient supervision as needed.
- Maintain attention to detail and accuracy when monitoring and documenting information.
- Acknowledge changes in a patient's condition or behavior and promptly report these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
- Perform various intervention tasks assigned by the charge nurse.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Maintain quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security.
- Perform physical requirements including bending, standing, walking, and lifting.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- BLS Certification and Crisis Intervention training within the hospital orientation period.
- Knowledge and understanding of working with mentally ill patients.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Proficient communication skills and the ability to interact efficiently and effectively with diverse personalities.
Pay
Pay range: $19.68–$26.86 per hour (base rate). Additional differentials:
- $2 per diem differential.
- $5 evening shift differential for hours worked between 3 p.m.–11 p.m. (must work at least 4 hours to qualify).
- $6 night shift differential for hours worked between 11 p.m.–7 a.m.
Schedule
- Per diem, various shifts.
- 12-hour shifts: 7:30 a.m.–8 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.–8 a.m.
