About the role
This is an on-call substitute position in our early childhood education and out-of-school time programs. You will be responsible for providing love and quality care for the children and youth throughout the day in order to meet their emotional and physical needs.
Responsibilities
- Properly follow daily schedule and implement daily and weekly lesson plan activities, both indoor and outdoor, that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program through whole group, small group, and individual activities
- Assist with the supervision of children at all times in the classroom, bathroom, changing area, playground, in any area of campus, and on field trips
- Interact with children and youth both physically and verbally throughout the day
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children and youth understand
- Absorb and follow state licensing requirements and Our House policies
- Utilize and understand Conscious Discipline and SPARK curriculum
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the safety and well-being of all children
- Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate
- Attend trainings as determined by Our House
- Conduct other duties as assigned to fulfill Our Houses mission
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to pass criminal background checks, child and adult maltreatment registry checks, sex offender registry checks, and a pre-employment drug screen
- Complete a minimum of 30 clock hours of professional development each year
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
Qualifications
Minimum of 6 months experience working with children
Flexibility to fill staff positions as scheduled in advance and on short notice
Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members
Skills
Ability to multitask
Conflict resolution skills with children
Excellent communication and people skills
Passion, integrity, and a positive attitude and be mission-driven and self-directed
