About the role
Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished.
Essential Functions
- Hold, promote, and encourage, in word and deed, the desired organizational culture and values.
- Purposefully seek to establish and maintain a culture that is based on grace and affirms and advances KGM’s vision and purpose.
- Maintain a peaceful, ministry-focused atmosphere.
- Set up and maintain a safe, clean, appealing environment.
- Welcome children and parents as they arrive to the Children’s Ministry.
- Oversee support staff, work trainees, and volunteers in the School Age Room.
- Aid children with games, crafts, activities, and homework.
- Prepare play and learning materials.
- Work with the Manager of the Children’s Ministry to further develop and implement activities and Bible lessons/gospel presentations.
- Log incidents as needed.
- Log in Mission Tracker as needed.
- Communicate with the Manager of the Children’s Ministry about needs, successes, and struggles.
- Supervise children's play and monitor their physical safety.
- Keep assigned area clean by taking out trash daily, storing snack food appropriately, keeping supply cabinets clean and organized, sweeping and mopping weekly.
- Participate in recommended training programs.
- Work with other Children’s Ministry staff to continually improve in serving families and children.

- Provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
- Demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward children.
- Lift 30 pounds.
- Sit on the floor to play with children.

Working Conditions/Physical Factors
Work will predominantly require the individual to work in a typical childcare environment. Equipment/Tools Used: Computer, Phone.
Education/Experience And/or Certification
- Prefer a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Must have high school diploma.
- Must have training and/or experience in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
