About the role

Sticky Fingers Cooking® is hiring part-time Chef Instructors in Kirkland to lead healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for children ages 3-18. Instructors bring the kitchen to the kids with a cooking kit containing all necessary equipment and tools. The company provides paid hands-on training and individualized support.

Responsibilities

• Interact with children, parents, and school staff weekly at on-site locations in your area
• Lead hour-long healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students
• Use creative recipes to teach children about new ingredients and healthy foods from around the world in an engaging, hands-on way
• Review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction, including shopping independently for fresh ingredients
• Teach basic kitchen skills including washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition, safety, and more
• Teach the history, geography, and language behind each recipe
• Provide direction and encouragement as kids prepare a new recipe each class in a dynamic hands-on environment
• Help kids learn healthy food habits that will nourish their bodies and minds for a lifetime

Qualifications

• Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 2-5pm)
• Commitment to teaching full sessions (ranging from 4-12 weeks)
• Washington Food Worker Card (can obtain before teaching)
• Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
• Ability to pass a fingerprint background check upon hire
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to communicate with the team in a timely manner
• Punctual and reliable
• No professional cooking experience required
• Experience working with kids of varying ages is a plus
