About the Role

The Assistant Teacher at The Goddard School - Milton will support a group of young learners and help create a positive and engaging learning environment. This role involves assisting primary teachers in providing nurturing, safe, and high-quality care to children while collaborating with parents and team members to meet children's developmental needs. This is a full-time position located in Milton, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support a dynamic and developmentally appropriate curriculum for children.
• Advance physical and intellectual competencies by adapting program activities to meet the needs of children.
• Create a warm, nurturing, and safe environment for children to learn and grow.
• Communicate appropriately and professionally with both parents and fellow staff members.
• Capture and communicate children's daily activities and progress.
• Collaborate with other team members to plan and participate in school events and activities.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines set by the school and state regulations.
• Continuously engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.

Requirements

• A 2-year degree in Early Childhood or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED with experience in childcare or an educational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Availability to work between the hours of 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid.
• Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses.
• Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
• Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies.
• Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved.
• Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations.
