Responsibilities
- Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
- Under the direct supervision of (dependent on branch) Operations Director, Director of Youth & Family Services, Youth & Family Services Program Director, Youth & Family Services Assistant Program Director, or Assistant Program Director, this Site Lead supports overseeing the daily operations of the Child Watch program.
- Provides support in direct supervision to staff, ensures safety and engagement for children, and builds strong relationships with families.
- Collaborates with leadership to maintain high-quality programming and uphold the Y’s values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Supports Child Watch staff by covering shifts when needed.
- Reports any performance and attendance issues to the Director in a timely and professional manner.
- Affords input to the Youth & Family/Child Watch Director regarding performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Assists with yearly staff training and quarterly meetings, as needed.
- Acts as the on-site leader, ensuring policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed by staff.
- Assists with training and lead/participates in staff meetings as needed.
- Reports performance and attendance concerns to Director.
- Contributes to staff scheduling and ensures coverage as needed.
- Provides input for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Provides guidance to the Child Watch staff team regarding daily activities, ensuring children have multiple choices of age-appropriate options such as movement, arts, imaginary play, and reading.
- Maintains accurate attendance tracking by recording and scanning rosters daily.
- Safeguards appropriate staff-to-child ratios and supervises high-risk activities.
- Supports Director in obtaining program supplies and materials.
- Provides guidance to staff on responding appropriately to parent questions and concerns.
- Delivers exemplary customer service and maintains positive relations with members, participants, and co-workers.
- Represents the YMCA’s core values through exceptional customer service.
- Ensures participant safety, including enforcing check-in/check-out procedures, managing illness and discipline issues, and maintaining appropriate activity supervision.
- Performs regular quick-check audits of staff to ensure proper procedures, supervision, and engagement practices are being followed.
- Operational Support includes providing guidance to staff on responding appropriately to parent questions and concerns, delivering exemplary customer service and maintaining positive relations with members, participants, and co-workers, and maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with all staff and departments.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with youth
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum 6 months of leadership experience
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Completes the following trainings within 30 days of hire:
- New Staff Orientation
- Child Abuse Prevention
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- CPR/First Aid certification (recommended to add if not already required)
