About the role

The part-time Childcare employee is responsible for greeting and checking in children to the child watch area, so that parents may exercise and utilize the Prairie Wellness Center. This employee shall be skilled in providing engaging care in a safe and nurturing atmosphere while in the child watch area.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and check them in to the child watch area within PLWC.
• Actively monitor and provide safety for children within the child watch area.
• Assist with personal care, including diapering, potty training, feeding, and helping children with hygiene routines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized facility, including toys, equipment and play areas within the child watch area.
• Organize and implement age-appropriate activities, games, arts and crafts, or educational play.
• Provide excellent communication with families, providing updates on the child’s behavior, activities, and well-being.
• Recognize signs of illness or distress and respond appropriately, including administering first aid or CPR if necessary.
• Take orders and answer questions with clarity and understanding.
• Work with a variety of people in an efficient, calm and patient manner while in a fast-paced environment.
• Work nights and weekends and extended hours as needed.
• Consistent and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts is required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old or older.
• Successful completion of a background check prior to hire.
• Prior experience in children, preferably in childcare or recreational settings.
• CPR, AED, First Aid, and sometimes Bloodborne Pathogens training upon 90 days of hire.
