POSITION SUMMARY

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. Creates a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement by providing quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

• Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
• Exemplifies the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all members and community inquiries promptly.
• Supervises multiple children and program activities.
• Helps in creating a warm, friendly environment in which children and families can grow.
• Follows all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical response, behavior guidance, child abuse prevention, and emergency situations.
• Effectively communicates with parents about their children and the program.
• Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents and staff.
• Maintains program site and equipment, and program records.
• Participates in staff meetings, training, and related events as required.
• Fulfills any functions designated by the YMCA Administration.

Requirements

• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, and Mandatory Safety Training certifications within 45 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention training and the Y applicable training within 7 days of hire.
• A desire to work with children in a developmental setting.
• Ability to implement age-appropriate and developmental-appropriate program activities as directed.
• Has 2+ years of experience in a Childcare setting is preferred.
• Has 2+ years’ experience in implementing age-appropriate activities is preferred.

Salary Description

$12.80-$15.06
