Child Support Attorney I/II/III/IV
About the role
This position works within the Kern County Department of Child Support Services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct examinations and appraisals to evaluate applicants' qualifications.
- Travel to various locations to perform legal services.
- Apply principles of law, trial procedure, and relevant statutes.
- Research legal matters and present arguments clearly and logically.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Utilize basic computer applications effectively.
Requirements
- Level I: Licensed by the California State Bar.
- Level II: One year of experience in the practice of law.
- Level III: Two years of experience as a practicing attorney in family and/or civil law.
- Level IV: Three years of experience as a practicing attorney in family and/or civil law.
Qualifications
- Licensed by the California State Bar.
- Ability to travel to various locations.
- Knowledge of legal principles, trial procedures, and relevant statutes.
- Ability to conduct legal research and present arguments effectively.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
Benefits
A $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment bonus is available for employees hired on or after April 22, 2023, in a permanent capacity as a Deputy District Attorney or a Child Support Attorney. The bonus is payable in full upon appointment by the District Attorney or Director of Child Support Services, subject to a five-year term of service with the hiring department.
Pay
- Salary levels range from $3,046.12 to $5,994.54, paid bi-weekly.
- Recruitment bonus of $15,000 available.
