About the role
Implement the district nutrition plan, including the development and analysis of menus, recipes, and food specifications through the integrated systems in the Child Nutrition Services Department. Oversee promotion, social media, and education initiatives for the department while adhering to federal and state laws, as well as district policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, analyze, and implement nutritional content in menu and recipe preparation, ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations and nutrition standards.
- Develop cycle menus per nutritional requirements and federal government budget requirements.
- Develop specialty dietary menus for students with food allergies.
- Facilitate and organize informational meetings and training sessions on nutrition education, safety, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
- Upload district menus for internal district use and external parent view.
- Coordinate, analyze, and introduce new products.
- Develop and implement marketing and merchandising of nutritious foods.
- Coordinate school and community relations concerning nutritional programs, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and implement all training opportunities for staff offered through the department.
- Coordinate the supper and summer school meal service programs.
- Provide guidance and instruction to managers on menu planning and completion of production records.
- Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
- Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, business administration, or related field.
- Valid registered dietitian certification by the Commission of Dietetic Registration.
- Valid licensed dietitian by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (required by the first day of work).
- Three (3) years of institutional food service experience, including menu planning/analysis.
- Valid Texas/New Mexico driver’s license/ID card.
- Subject to the district’s drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation.
- Must be insurable by the district’s auto liability insurance carrier.
Mental & Physical Demands
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- Prolonged use of computers and occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
- Occasional district-wide travel.
